A prominent Hartleyite, Mr. Gajendran Balasingham, passed away on Friday (July 16th, 2004) after a brief illness and his funeral took place at the Kanatta Cemetery On July 19, 2004.
He leaves behind his wife Dr. Saraswathy and sons Kishan and Dharshan.
He excelled in cricket and captained Hartley College. He was adjudged the best Cricketer of the North. He won the Ceylon School best All-round Prize (The President's Cup) and was made the Vice-Captain of the Ceylon Schools Cricket Team that visited Australia.
After leaving Hartley he was at St.Thomas's College Mt Lavania where he again excelled in cricket as a fast bowler. On leaving school Mr. Gajendran Balasingham played with success for the Colts Cricket Club (CCC).
