The Website Hartley College.com has entered the portals of the fifth year since its inauguration during the Tenth Anniversary Hartleyites Nite in 1998 when I was President of the then Hartley College Past Pupils' Association of Canada. Much water has run through since its inauguration and much of what has happened to the family of Hartleyites since then can be attributed partly to the uniting influence of the website.
I can remember the day when a group of young Hartleyites from Ottawa
Showed up at the doors where we were having our committee meeting. Someone introduced them to the committee and there they put forward their proposal to launch the website under the umbrella of the HCPPA Canada. At the same time they produced nearly twenty names of Hartleyites and wanted to form a branch of HCPPA Canada in Ottawa. This was the time when we had decided to expand our tentacles to the distant parts of Canada and to the USA. The committee welcomed both proposals of forming the Ottawa branch and the formation of the Website. Consequently the WEBSITE WAS INAUGERATED AT THE 10TH ANNUAL GATHERING OF HARTLEYITES BY MR. S. SIVAANANTHAN AND HIS FRIENDS.
During the last five years, both HCPPA Canada and the Hartley Website have grown. HCPPA Canada is now HCPPA Canada & USA, Life membership has grown tremendously, Canada initiated the Global trust in Colombo to coordinate efforts of all branches to develop Hartley College. The family of Hartleyites with six branches in Point Pedro, Colombo, United Kingdom, Canada, New South Wales and Victoria Australia are brought together by the website and many Hartleyites all over the world are looking for information and news in the website. Thus during the last five years the website has become an integral part of the Global family of Hartleyites.
On this note let me congratulate the webteam for their farsighted adventure on the occasion of this Fifth Anniversary and wish them continued success and hope that that they will get the continued support they deserved from all branches.
