Message From Prof. Eliezer for HCPPA-Canada's Kalai Vizha Malar - 2000

From "down under Australia" to the members of the HCPPA of Canada, our warm greetings.
The old pupils of our College are now scattered all over the world. However it is good to keep in touch, and talk about our old days in the College.
All of us have been able to prosper in our new homes and new countries because of the good education we received at Hartley College. We may think of those teachers who were particularly good to us, and to whom we are grateful. I remember Mr. Kathirithamby who would teach us Mathematics, first explaining in English, than in Tamil, and then a knock to the head. I remember Mr. Arulampalam who used to give a motto for the class for each year. One year it was 'Truth' another year it was 'Responsibility'. Mr. P. W. Muthiah taught us Latin, Mr. Mailvaganam higher mathematics, Mr. R. M. Gunaratnam physics, Mr. S. V. Gunanayagam English and Tamil. And who can forget our Principal C.P. Thamotharam who would be waling along the corridor, with a cane in hand, and glancing at each class as he passed by to see if
everything was proceeding satisfactorily.
Now we know the difficult times the College has been having due to Army occupation of Point Pedro. Yet the College has continued to do its work magnificently. We, old pupils will have the opportunity of helping the College in various ways.
We wish you all well.
Yours Sincerely
Sgd: Jeyam Eliezer
